The album "Vamos pa 'la fiesta" by Septeto Santiaguero has won the Cubadisco 2013 award in the category of Popular & Traditional Music. Fernando Dewar, director of Septeto Santiaguero and album producer, said: "This award is shared with masters such Rubén Blades, Cheo Feliciano, Jose Alberto El Canario, Jimmy Bosch, Luisito Quintero and Edwin Colón Zayas, because their talent have contributed so much to the overall balance of the album".
Dewar said to be very excited to have won this award in this category cause its one of the most competitive contest to involve in it "masters of the traditional cuban music such as Eliades Ochoa, el Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro and Jóvenes Clásicos del Son".
"Vamos pa 'la fiesta", produced by Septeto Santiaguero and Picap record label, was released in July 2012. At the end of last year was included in various lists of specialized media that selected the album among the best albums of 2012 in Salsa & Latin Jazz, Afro-Latin music and World Music.
The director of the Septeto Santiaguero said that "the Cubadisco award is the best thing that ever happened to "Vamos pa' la fiesta". This award coincides almost with the release of the new music video for the album, which we'll release in a few days "Que le den candela", a version of a picaresque song popularized by Los Van Van on '90.
Septeto Santiaguero will go on playing the album "Vamos pa' la fiesta" with an extensive Europe tour from June to September, which includes countries such as Austria, Germany, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Holland, Italy and Switzerland.
